Tonight is a very big night for the CW. Not only will we see the Suicide Squad on an all new episode of the hit series Arrow, but the network will premiere the pilot of brand new show, The 100. The new series hopes to be just the latest jewel in the network's crown. The CW recently announced the renewals of several of its popular series, including the aforementioned Arrow, as well as The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Supernatural, among others.
Tonight the CW launches what they hope will be the network's next big hit, The 100. The official plot synopsis for the post-apocalyptic series, reads:
“Difficult decisions about the fate of the human race are faced in the opener of this series, in which juvenile prisoners from a space-station society are exiled to Earth decades after the planet was destroyed by nuclear war.”
Devon Bostick, one of the stars of The Diary of a Wimpy Kid, appears in the new show. He recently spoke to TV Guide about the plot of the new show:
"These kids are free for the first time on Earth. And it is a very futuristic sci-fi setting. There's a lot of horrifying things that can happen, but what's also scary is what these kids are capable of when they're free. It's kind of like, will the wild take over?"
The CW has no shortage of hit series. The network recently announced the renewal of several of its hit shows. Network president Mark Pedowitz made the announcement.
"This season we've had great success with our new hit series The Originals paired with Supernatural, giving us our best Tuesday nights in years. The Vampire Diaries is number two in its time period in the young adult demos, and with Arrow continuing to gain among young men, and Reign growing its time period, we now have strong nights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I'm very pleased to announce early pickups for all five series, and let our fans know they'll have more great drama to look forward to next season."
Be sure to check out The 100 tonight at 9:00 on the CW.
