A couple from Iowa is the sole Powerball winners and raked in just above $200 million in a lottery played last week ABC News reported.
Mary and Brian Lohse from Bondurant, Iowa collected their winnings at the Iowa Lottery headquarters on Thursday, Oct. 18.
Mrs. Lohse was the one who purchased the winning ticket last week from at a local general store when she had stopped for gas. She soon after realized she had one the grand prize.
She thought initially that she only had the last three numbers and thought she might have just $100 but upon further inspection she found out she had all of the numbers.
"I have the last three numbers and I was like, 'Well, crap, I think I won at least 100 bucks," Mary Lohse said.
Her husband Brian Lohse himself could not believe that shetold him she had won and advised her to go her attorney.
"I figured perhaps she wasn't pulling my leg," said Brian Lohse.
The couple opted for a one-time payment and received the sum of $129.8 million and after taxes were handed a check for $90.9 million.
The couple are parents of three children ages 15, 11 and 8 and have plans on donating some of their earnings to local schools, churches and charities.They are also planning paying off their student loans, building a new house and buying new cars according to the Des Moines Register.
At the moment both Mary and Brian Lohse have taken leaves of absence from their jobs.
