2014 is set to be the year of celebrity sister weddings. First the Simpsons, Jessica and Ashlee, announce their engagements; only to have Ashley Olsen's sisters Mark-Kate and Elizabeth do the same. The inevitable wedding wars are already brewing.
Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy, billionaire banker and brother to former president of France Nicholas Sarkozy, announce their engagement earlier this month after two years of dating and several earlier refused proposals.
A friend of Mary-Kate's told Us Weekly that it took persistence and trust building before the fashion mogul was ready to pull the trigger on forever for Olivier:
"[Oliver] tried a year ago, and she wasn't ready.
"She didn't need to be wined and dined.
"She just wanted to make sure he would [continue] to be good to her."
Lizzie's more age appropriate beau Boyd Holbrook just had to saunter up to Olsen's dad and ask to have her, a source close to the pair told Star:
"He asked Lizzie's father for her hand in marriage...It was so romantic, and they couldn't have picked a better spot [in Paris]."
Elizabeth and Boyd, both actors, met on the set of Very Good Girls back in 2012, and have been practically inseparable ever since.
Not only are the Olsen family reportedly happy to have the well-mannered Holbrook as welcomed addition to the family, a source close to the family to Star, that they didn't consider the insanely rich and powerfully connected Olivier as too bad a catch either:
"They are men that any parents would want for son-in-law."
Liz hasn't shown off the ring just yet, or maybe it just couldn't be seen next to giant vintage rock that the Sarkozy gave Mary-Kate; it's hard to tell.
