Spoiler Warning for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. There has been a lot of buzz around the Marvel Cinematic Universe about the possibility of a Black Widow solo movie. However, a new report suggest that former Ms Marvel, Carol Danvers, might be the first female hero to have her own Marvel movie. Danvers is the current Captain Marvel a hero with ties to the Kree alien race. The Kree are, of course, the front runners for the beings behind Agent Coulson’s resurrection and Skye’s recovery on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It was even rumored that Coulson and Skye would take on the roles of Captain and Ms Marvel.
Marvel’s president of production, Kevin Feige, loves to talk about Marvel movies. It seems like that all he does. You name a Marvel character and chances are that Feige has blabbed on about them staring an upcoming movie at some point. So it isn’t hard to believe that Feige recently told Superhero Hype all about the possibility of a upcoming Black Widow solo movie:
"I think the idea would be great. We've got various outlines and ideas of where to take that. As Scarlett already said, there's a big element that explores her back story in an upcoming Marvel feature. The question really is, 'When will we take her out of the ensemble and have her do her own thing?' As you saw in [Captain America: The Winter Soldier], as you'll see in Avengers: Age of Ultron, she's really the key to so much of the plot development."
Now as part of Feige’s seemingly never ending quest to talk to every media outlet, (except us) he has opened up to Badass Digest. In a recent interview he seemingly shot down the Black Widow rumors, while talking up the new Captain Marvel:
"Frankly, if we do a Black Widow movie after The Avengers: Age of Ultron, she’s been central in three or four movies, I don’t think we'd get the quote unquote credit for it. People would say, she’s already a big giant superhero. But if we’d had a great idea, we’d do it. I like the idea if we’re going to do [female lead], do a new one. Do a wholly new character, do an origin story. We’ve talking a lot about [Captain Marvel]. I think that would be very cool."
