This just in. Wolverine is dying. The X-Man only has a few months to live, well, “3 Months to Die,” to be exact. A new comic book story arc puts the mutant in mortal jeopardy. Meanwhile, Hugh Jackman’s time as the Wolvie, might soon be coming to an end after the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past and Apocalypse movies.
Check any comic book form on the internet and you're bound to find someone invoking the name of Wolverine. From fans who think the X-Man is the be-all, end-all, to detractors who feel the character is overpowered and oversaturated on the shelves.
Now Marvel's latest decision is bound to shake up the forums. Not only has Wolvie lost his healing powers, but in a new comic arc he could also lose his life.
Wolverine editor Mike Marts recently spoke with Comic Book Resorces about the upcoming arc:
“We're not messing around with the title "3 Months to Die." We are going to fully explore Wolverine's mortality, what that means to him, what that means to the X-Men, what it means to the Marvel Universe -- and we're not going to be shy. We're not going to be nervous about what storylines we might decide to pursue here.”
Meanwhile, Hugh Jackman's long life span as Wolverine might also be coming to an end. Recently, while on the set of the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, Jackman spoke with IGN about ending his seven-film run as metal clawed mutant:
“I’m sure they had the discussion. They didn’t mention it to me, obviously! [Laughs] Look, that’s inevitable, man. Anyone who thinks they're indispensable in this business is fooling themselves. But I feel unbelievably blessed to have this part. I never thought in a million years I'd get to play him seven times. Every day I walk on the set with the claws and the hair, I thank my lucky stars. I don't take any of it for granted.”
