The Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra will be at New York's Carnegie Hall for what they dub as their "International Debut," concert on Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Stern Auditorium/ Perelman Stage.
Tickets for the one-time event at Carnegie will cost patrons $58, $78, $98 and $118 depending on where they are seated.
The China based ensemble and to be mentioned special guest singers will perform the work of German Ludwig van Beethoven when they play the tune of "Egmont Overture."
The orchestra will then Rimsky-Korsakov's "Procession of the Nobles," from "Mlada," a work originally seen as a ballet but later revised as an opera-ballet and the final western piece on offer on the night will be Italian Baroque composer Antonio Lucio Vivaldi's "Concerto in C major for Two Trumpets, Strings and Continuo, RV 537."
Also on the program will be compositions done by Shen Yun Symphony's own composers and they are said to be world premier selections being offered.
Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra blends traditional Chinese music with the more uniform western classical music. The Shen Yun Symphony comes out of the Shen Yun Preforming Arts unit and has a New York, International and touring company that makes up their orchestra.
The performers and composers of the Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra according to the program notes have honed their skills over six years of international tours with the Shen Yun Performing Arts.
The ensemble features mainly Asian artist from Chinese and Taiwanese backgrounds and utilizes traditional Chinese instruments. This however will not be the orchestra's first trip to New York, the group played to a sold out crowd at the Lincoln Center earlier in 2012.
