Check back into Bates Motel tonight for an all new episode. The hit A&E series starring Freddie Highmore and Transformers 4: Age of Extinction star, Nicola Peltz just added a new cast member. Shield, Sons of Anarchy and Burn Notice vet, Kenny Johnson joined the cast at the end of last weeks episode as Norma Bates estranged brother, Caleb.
A large and ,disturbing part of the Psycho mythos is Norman Bates’ odd and possibly incestuous releationship with his mother. In the new series Norman and Norma Bates are played by Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga respectively. Recently Highmore spoke with TODAYonline about the relationship between mother and son.
“Vera and I disagree, but I think our disagreements fall in line with our characters and she sees the relationship as more platonic. For me, I think Norman does read a little more into it and has feelings for his mother that go beyond what most boys would have.”
Highmore went on to talk about keeping the suspense:
“It’s always a sense of being tempted to do more than is best to do at this stage of the series, and you have these fantastic characters and there are so many places you can take them. For the series to develop well, it’s much more fun and delicious to have this tension playing out over time.”
The International Business Times is offering up an extend preview of tonight’s episode, “Caleb,” reporting:
“It’s time to welcome Norma’s estranged brother, Caleb, into the mix! During the season 1 finale Norma told Norman that her brother sexually abused her for years. But is that the truth? Bates Motel viewers will have to wait and see, but it sounds like Dylan is unaware of his mother’s awful history with his uncle. According to the synopsis, Dylan will try to ‘bridge the gap’ between the pair when Caleb shows up at the motel.
Meanwhile, a memorial for Emma’s friend leads the teen to a new relationship; and Norman once again gets sucked into trouble by a woman, this time a townie girl. In other motel news, Norma will finally find an ally in her ‘battle to stop the bypass.’”
