With Thor’s Lady Sif coming to Midgard in this week’s all new episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., fans are wondering if we will see Tom Hiddleston’s Loki anytime soon. A popular fan theory is that the Avenger's villain could be the mysterious Clairvoyant. However, the newly introduced agent John Garrett, played by Bill Paxton, might just be a much better and much more likely candidate for the role. Needless to say, Spoilers Follow!
Fangirls everywhere would love to see Thor’s Loki show up in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Tom Hiddleston, himself, has even expressed an interest in showing up on the show.
Many fans have even theorized that Loki is really the mysterious S.H.I.E.L.D. villain The Clairvoyant. However, that theory might just be the worst possible one and here is why.
The End of Thor 2:
Loki is way too busy to be bothered with mortals. When we last saw Loki, he had just faked his death and ascended to the throne of Asgard in the guise of Oden. Loki is quite unlikely to care about Coulson or his crew.
The End Game:
Where fangirls everywhere would love it if Loki was revealed to be the Clairvoyant, what would Thor think? Surely once Coulson and his crew learned that the man who nearly destroyed New York was back on earth, they would alert the Avengers. Thor learning that his brother is back from the dead would certainly ruin the set up for Thor 3, already in motion.
However, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent John Garrett, played by Bill Paxton, is a much more likely choice. One of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s top agents surely has access to the agency's all seeing eye.
Garrett also already has knowledge of the Clairvoyant, who has killed three members of his crew. The Clairvoyant’s main focus has been finding out what happened to Coulson. So why would the Clairvoyant be attacking Garrett's men?
Our theory: Garrett is trying to cheat death. He has invested a ton of time in the studying the Deathlok program. When he hears of Coulson’s return from the grave, he decides he needs to find out what happened to him.
In the comics, Garrett obtains a cyborg body, much like the ones used by Deathlok. Could Garrett, after being revealed to be the Clairvoyant, save himself using Deathlok bionics?
