Well, the bad news is that the hit NBC show The Blacklist is taking another week off. But the good news is that NBC is premiering the new J.J.Abrams series, Believe. The new show from the Star Wars Episode Seven director is replacing the popular James Spader series this week after The Voice.
NBC is shaking up its Monday night line up, once again. The Blacklist just returned after taking nearly a month off for the 2014 Winter Olympics and some stupid Sports Illustrated special. Now one of the best new shows on TV is taking another week so J.J.Abrams can try and relive the success he once had on Lost.
The official plot synopsis for the pilot episode of the new show--provided by TVGuide--reads:
“The series premiere of a drama about a young girl (Johnny Sequoyah) with supernatural gifts and the wrongly imprisoned inmate (Jake McLaughlin) assigned to protect her. Executive producers include J.J. Abrams.”
The show is co-created by Abrams and Alfonso Cuarón. Cuarón, who recently brought home an Oscar for directing Gravity, spoke to IGN about how he let Abrams, talk him into the TV biz:
“It was one of those things, after talking with J.J. for so many years about doing something together. One day he said, ‘Hey, man. Let’s do a TV show.’ And I was like, ‘Ooh-hoo, no. I don’t know how to do that.’He said, ‘Just do it!’ And I said, ‘No, J.J., that’s not for me.’ But then, after that conversation, pretty much that same evening, I was like, ‘Yeah, why not?’ Then it was as if all the ideas that I had in the past started coming in and gluing together. And that’s how it happened.”
The Blacklist will return next week. The official plot synopsis for the March 17, episode, titled, “Mako Tanida,” reads:
“Red targets a past associate, a crime lord who then seeks revenge after escaping from prison. Elsewhere, Tom confronts Jolene.”
