Japan's Nintendo according to PC World will be lowering the price of their Wii console to just around $130 to possibly get entry level gamers on board and to clear the way for their new console the Wii U whose North American release date is set for mid-November, to go along with its release in Europe and Australia on Nov. 30 and Dec. 8 in Japan.
The Wii console price drop will happen on Oct. 28 and consumers will be able to pick up the system with Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort compacted on one single disc for the very first time.
Scott Moffitt, Nintendo America's executive president of sales and marketing said "A new suggested retail price and the inclusion of two great games make it an easy choice for families looking for a great value this holiday season."
The Wii was manufactured by Foxconn and was released by Nintendo in 2006 worldwide and currently has shipped well over 90 million consoles to date.
Launch titles in North America included the likes of Nintendo's "Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" and Ubisoft's "Red Steel." The Wii also had backward compatibility with the Nintendo Gamecube.
The Wii U has been slated for a November release for North America and will be available for $300 for 8GB version and $350 for a 32GB system.
The console will be launched with games such as Nintendo's "New Super Mario Bros. U," "Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge and "Nintendo Land."'
The Wii U will have backward compatibility with the Wii system.
