‘Archer’ Renewed for Two Seasons, Netflix New Episodes and 'Always Sunny' Near Cancellation’ [UPDATE]

Archer flipped the script with the new season Archer: Vice, and it is working. The FX animated series has just been renewed for two more seasons. Meanwhile, you can relive your favorite moments, now that new episodes of Season 4 have been added to Netflix. Archer’s former FX neighbors, Mac, Charlie, Dennis, Dee and Frank from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, have moved to FXX, where they have gotten a tenth season renewal, despite cancellation rumors.

Archer’s new season plot twist is paying off. The show has just been renewed for two more seasons.

Eric Schrier, FX president of original programming, released a statement to the press about the renewal:

Archer is one of the best comedies on television and has played a significant role in the growth of the FX comedy brand, We’re grateful to Adam Reed, Matt Thompson and their team at Floyd County, and also our incredible voice cast, and are looking forward to supporting their work for at least two more seasons.”

The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode, titled “Smugglers Blues,” reads:

“Archer embarks on a secret mission to Colombia.”

Meanwhile, the gang from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia will return for a tenth season. The show suffered a small ratings drop following the switch over to FXX.

One of the show’s features, Glenn Howerton, A.K.A Dennis Reynolds, recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about almost getting cancellated:

“There was a time when season nine might have been the last season--and, interestingly enough, as important a decision as this is, the three of us came to an idea of how to end the show that we all really liked a lot and are leaning toward. That's not to say it will be the one we end up with.”

The new episode of Archer: Vice airs tonight at 10:00 p.m. on FX.
