ABC 'Resurrection' Air Date: Cast Omar Epps and Frances Fisher, Brad Pitt’s Company Produces

The ABC Studios and Plan B Entertainment, led by Brad Pitt among others, is producing the small screen adaptation of Jason Mott's novel The Returned, entitled Resurrection. Omar Epps and Frances Fisher star in the network premiere, the air date for which is March 9, at 9 p.m.

ABC's new network series Resurrection starring Omar Epps and Clint Eastwood's ex Frances Fisher among others, is based on Jason Mott's novel about a small town in Missouri where the people long dead suddenly return, appearing as though they hadn't aged a day from the time of their deaths.

Omar Epps was quick to explain to Vibe that, though the deceased are inexplicably reanimated in his new show, it is not some living dead rehash like The Walking Dead:

"It's based on a book called The Return, which is a really interesting story.

"And that story is universal. It deals with some supernatural things, but it's very organic. It's not like some zombie sh** [laughs].

"The one thing that binds us together as human beings more so than anything-any ethnicity or religion-is life and death.

"Those are the two things we all have to experience. The Resurrection story is centered around that type of theme. I'm really excited about this project."

ABC describes the show as a mystery thriller on its official website, not the played for screams terror romp that you might expect:

"The people of Arcadia, Missouri are forever changed when their deceased loved ones suddenly start to return. An 8-year-old American boy wakes up alone in a rice paddy in a rural Chinese province with no idea how he got there. Details start to emerge when the boy, who calls himself Jacob, recalls that his hometown is Arcadia.

"The home he claims as his own is occupied by an elderly couple, Henry and Lucille Langston, who lost their son, Jacob, more than 30 years ago. While they look different, young Jacob recognizes them as his parents.

"Those closest to the family try to unravel this impossible mystery--but this boy who claims to be the deceased Jacob knows secrets about his own death that no one else knows."

Kind of sounds like a J.J. Adams joint, but let's hope not.
