Warning Spoilers Follow*** If you tuned into to Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. last night, then you know that show has finally started to follow through on the promise to open up to the larger MCU. The introduction of the blue-skinned alien, A.K.A The Kree, last night has many wondering if Skye is in fact Ms. Marvel. Speaking of Kree, how will the introduction of the alien race tie-in to the new film, Guardians of the Galaxy?
Last night’s all new episode of Marvel’s Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., titled "T.A.H.I.T.I.," definitely opened the door for the larger MCU, however, it did little to fix some of the many other issues that plagued the show.
Despite the bright spot that was the introduction of Bill Paxton as Agent John (quite possibly the Clairvoyant) Garrett, the show still suffered from bland action, hacky and predictable writing (“We are her family”), logic lapses and the all too cliche, ticking clock.
In the episode, former hacker criminal and borderline treasonist, Skye, is dying after being shot in the previous episode. Coulson and the rest of the 616, go on the hunt for a cure.
Unable to get Nick Fury on the phone and, instead of hunting down the doctor that Coulson knows worked on him, the gang all decide to commit S.H.I.E.L.D. treason and magicaly hack into some not very well guarded Top Secret files, with the help of Deus Ex Machina, A.K.A. the holotable.
Then the crew broke into the Guest House and murder two guards who are only doing their jobs. Yes, we understand that Skye’s life hung in the balance, but really these two guys were killed. Two guys who most likely have families, unlike the orphaned Skye. Lets not forget that in T.R.A.C.K.S., Ward duel wields two Night-Night guns against the enemies, but the two poor guards at this friendly facility have to get the real bullets.
That all leads us to the stumpy blue alien, A.K.A. The Kree.
Skye gets injected with The Kree's D.N.A., saving the day and quite possibly turning her into the new Ms. Marvel.
In the comics, Carol Danvers becomes the super hero Ms. Marvel, when her damaged body is merged with Kree D.N.A.
Given S.H.I.E.L.D.s history with slapping a hero moniker on an original character, (Deathlok) this does not seem so far fetched.
That also leads us to the Guardians of the Galaxy. The film’s main villain Ronin is a member of the Kree race. Do you think that this is the start of an Guardians and S.H.I.E.L.D tie-in?
