The Metropolitan Opera House will again offer the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart when it welcomes a rendition of "Le Nozze di Figaro," starting Oct. 29 until Nov. 17.
This production will be done Jonathan Miller and he has put Mozart's composition in a time frame of about three hours and 32 minutes in a play that will be four acts long.
Miller has enlisted the aid of conductor David Robertson for the play and will direct musical proceddings the throughout the duration of the season.
Miller has casted basically the same actors for the play. One of the central figures "Susanna," will be played by German soprano Mojca Erdmann.
The role of "Countess Almaviva," will be played by both Lativian soprano Maija Kovalevska and South Korea's Hei-Kyung Hong with the latter only making a single performance, that on the last day of the play on Nov. 17.
Opposite the character "Countess Almaviva," will be "Count Almaviva," in Miller's production this role has been casted to Canadian baritone Gerald Finleywhile the role of the character "Cherubino," is tasked to German soprano Christine Schafer.
The role of "Figaro," is to be taken by bass baritone Ildar Abdrazakov.
Jonathan Miller has gone with the production team of Peter Davison the set designer, costume designer James Acheson and lighting designer Mark McCullough, while Terry John Bates will be in charge of choreography for this four act piece.
"Le Nozze di Figaro," is set in 18th Spain where love is the key theme. In the first act for example, Servants "Figaro" and "Susanna," are to be married only for Figaro to find out the his master the count is in love with his beloved.
