NCIS: Los Angeles' Season 5 cast member LL Cool J didn't become an American icon starring on a network television series by whining all the time, and he wants Kanye West to think about that instead of "complaining" about everything. Spoiler Update: Mr. J, who was recently named 2014 Artist of the Year by Harvard University, jokingly told with Arsenio Hall, while on his talk show, that West was too talented to constantly be running his mouth like he does.
LL Cool J is considered by many to be one on the original innovators of the American hip-hop movement, and for this, as well as his charitable efforts, he had been named 2014's Artist of the Year by the very prestigious Harvard University.
S. Allen Counter, director of the Harvard Foundation told Harvard News that Mr. J was being acknowledged for his humanitarian as well as artistic contributions to the world:
"The students and faculty of the Harvard Foundation are delighted to present two-time Grammy Awards host, musician, and actor LL Cool J with the 2014 Artist of the Year award.
"His pioneering contributions to a new genre of music and distinguished history of creativity have been lauded by young people around the world, and he is greatly admired for his excellent humanitarian efforts through the Jumpstart program, an initiative that creates early education programs in low-income neighborhoods, which increases school readiness and reduces the achievement gap."
When recently asked by Arsenio Hall what he thought made him different from other artists; Ladies Lover Cool James told the host that his best advice was to not act like Kanye West (via Spin):
"[Kanye West,] I love you man, but you gotta stop complaining."
LL Cool J may have said it as a laugh, but the sentiment, not doubt, comes from a very real place of disappoint.
Though if he didn't constantly disappoint everyone with his hair in fire mad man antics, than he just wouldn't be Kanye.
