'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D' Return Episode Tonight Featuring Bill Paxton and Cyborg Deathlok

Tonight is the night that Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. makes its return to TV. The show is planning to gain back viewers and win over critics after a very disappointing first act. The show is planning to become the series that it needs to be, by introducing some new characters from the Marvel universe. Tonight's return episode features Bill Paxton as the cyborg S.H.I.E.L.D. agent John Garrett. Could Garret be the perfect counterpart to the newly introduced Deathlok?

Stan Lee foreshadowed it when he gave Agent Coulson some advice during his cameo a month back:

“Now is your chance to do better! Why don’t you see that you take it!”

That is exactly what Coulson and the rest of the agents plan to do starting with tonight's new episode.

The show started out with high hopes and a built in audience but failed to capture the viewers and critics' admiration. The show's bland characters and slow pacing lead to viewers dropping week after week.

Even ABC’s Entertainment President Paul Lee admitted the show has had its fair share of troubles at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour, telling reporters:

“It was obviously disappointing that we started with a very high number and it came down. It took a little bit of time to find our sea legs, but now the show is really doing well…. I think the key to us was really starting to work closely with the studios, and really figure out with our showrunners and all the creative brains, how we could have a show that didn’t have Iron Man in it, but did have an incredible amount of the Marvel universe and an incredible amount of the mythology that went through there. We also took a little bit of time to get the balance between a procedural and an arc. I’m so proud of how they’ve now arced out the last nine episodes. But, that’s something that many shows do, as they go through that.”

Tune in tonight to see if Marvel can turn the tide for the series.
