Kickstart My Dog: Ototo, Dentaku's Newest Device by Joseph Pleass, Allows You to Play Fido Just Like a Piano

In our digital age, musical instruments seem to be, well, everywhere.

You name it, and it's probably been recorded and/or sampled a half-dozen times over. Or more.

Well, welcome, then, to a new device--about the size of a credit card--that allows you to transform a chair, plant, your dog, etc. ad inf. into a playable instrument.

Developed by Joseph Pleass and a team at Dentaku design studio in London, this little board that fits in your pocket is called the Ototo and combines a synthesizer with twelve touch-sensitive keys arranged like a piano.

Conductive objects (i.e. "Fido") can be connected to the keys with crocodile clips, allowing you to trigger notes by touching that very object.

"It uses the same technology as a touchscreen," says head honcho Pleass.

Not content to be just another visionary, his company has started a Kickstarter campaign that has already surpassed 50,000 euros. Full production, thus, will begin soon.

Abreast of this latest news, Dentaku also hopes to put out a drainpipe saxophone...just like Charlie Parker used to shoot heroin with.
