BADBADNOTGOOD Tour Dates To Be Announced

BADBADNOTGOOD is rumoured to be touring North America's east coast come early 2013 sometime in the spring and the group will be releasing their new album BBNG3 which is also slated for 2013.

The group has just came off successful shows in North America in cities such as New York, Chicago and Vancouver earlier in the year.

BADBADNOTGOOD is a jazz and hip hop trio from Canada that comprises of Matthew Tavares on the keys, Alexander Sowinski on percussion and Chester Hansen on the double bass and bass guitar. The crew formed in 2010 when they all met at Toronto's Humber College in a jazz program.

In an interview done by revivalist.okayplayer.com's Fredara Mareva when asked about how the trio got into jazz drummer Sowinski said.

"I personally got into jazz by learning to play my instrument. My teacher is a jazz drummer and he started showing me certain things and I thought the music and the musicianship were really cool so I started listening to jazz and going to jazz camps."

The musical trio caught the attention of fans and other artist when they started to cover tracks from the likes of Odd Future's Tyler the Creator. Tyler himself has gone on to work with the Canadian group as well as other Odd Future artist such as Frank Ocean.

Combining hip hop and jazz, the group also did recreation of Gucci Mane's "Lemonade," on "BBNG2" and on one of their other albums the trio covered A Tribe Called Quest's "Electric Relaxation."

When asked to describe their music keyboardist Matt Taveres told revivalist.okayplayer.com.

"I don't know. I just say it's music. I don't say I'm in a jazz band, I just say I'm in a band. I mean it's kind of hard because people get upset when you label things "jazz" because they really have a strict conception of what jazz can be. I mean jazz is a huge tradition and some people think you're disrespecting it when you don't follow it. I just say it's music."

Baseman Chester Hansen went on to say. "We sort of like to let people check it out and decide what they think about it. On our last album on the "genre" tab in iTunes we put an emoticon of the smiley shrugging."
