Earlier in the week, Seth Rogen gave an impassioned plea to the senate about Alzheimers research. The only problem was that the funny man played to an almost empty gallery. Meanwhile, Batman, himself, Ben Affleck, also spent a little time in DC, where he was met with very full audience. Needless to say, Rogen was not been too happy with Washing playing favorites, and is now testifying.
Seth Rogen might claim to be a “lazy, self-involved, generally self-medicated man-child,” but he is very active and passionate when it comes to alzheimer's research. So passionate, that he went to Washington this week to fight for his cause.
The problem was that most of the senators were too busy to spend six minutes listening to the comedian talk about something that drastically affects the lives of millions of Americans. However, they all seemingly made room in their schedules to listen to Ben Affleck talk about the Congo.
After his funny yet powerful speech, Rogen tweeted his contentment:
“Not sure why only two senators were at the hearing. Very symbolic of how the Government views Alzheimer's. Seems to be a low priority.”
Republican Senator Mark Kirk later tweeted about Rogen’s cause despite not being there, writing:
“Thanks to @Sethrogen for speaking out about efforts to #ENDALZ. RT if you know someone affected by #Alzheimers.”
However, Rogen was not charmed by the Senator’s false faced efforts, commenting:
“.@SenatorKirk pleasure meeting you. Why did you leave before my speech? Just curious.”
Kirk later added that he was busy but did watch the recording of his testimony.
“@Sethrogen Had mtg w/ Capt Jim Lovell but watched your testimony after. Thx for your work to #ENDALZ. Keep in touch.”
Rogen didn’t seem too pleased with the Senator’s explanation when he tweeted back:
“symbolically, it hurts the cause to see that many empty seats. Wish you hung around. Nice meeting you.”
