Mega Millions Lottery Announces Third Largest Jackpot In History After $1 Million Give Away

Well, there was no grand prize jackpot winner for last night's Mega Millions lottery, meaning that the new totals have risen to become the third highest in MM history. Check below for a preview of the new amounts, as well as an update on the $1 million winner from last night.

The new total for this weekend's Mega Millions lottery drawing on Friday has reached an impressive $216 million. The estimated cash value option is $119 mil.

This makes the drawing the third highest in Mega Millions history, as the official website reports:

“The excitement is building as the estimated Mega Millions jackpot for Friday, February 28, is $216 million (with a $119 million cash option). There were two winning Match 5 tickets Tuesday night, hitting the first five numbers (12, 18, 25, 35 and 66) but missing the Mega Ball of 15.

"More than 2.2 million winning Mega Millions tickets, at all prize levels except the jackpot, were sold for the February 25 drawing. They were led by the two $1 million Match 5 winners, from Arizona and Maryland. Other prizes range from $5,000 down to $1. For the third consecutive draw, the optional Megaplier number was 5, so anyone holding a winning ticket that included the extra $1 purchase saw their prize automatically increase by a factor of five.

"Friday’s drawing will be the second-largest Mega Millions jackpot since the record $656 million prize on March 30, 2012. Only last December’s $648 million jackpot was higher.”

Be sure to buy your tickets now for the big drawing. The Powerball drawing will not be anywhere close to this amount anytime soon.

Check back in with us on Friday for a report on the new winning numbers.

Until then, keep hoping and stop working. -Brick Dozer.
