Tonight the long running USA series Psych returns with the first of its final five episodes. The hit show starring James Roday and Dule Hill is ending its impressive run after the eighth season.
The end of the Psych begins tonight. Say goodbye to James Roday and the gang in an all new episode, titled “1967: A Psych Odyssey.” The official plot synopsis for the first of the final five episodes reads:
“A former backup singer hopes to solve a cold case from 1967.”
The episode's title is a reference to the film, 2001: A Space Odyssey.
The finale episode of Psych airs on March 26.
USA Network President Chris McCumber broke the news of the series cancellation during a recent Q&A session with reporters:
"Psych has made an indelible imprint on the television landscape, with a unique brand of comedy. The final season celebrates the iconic characters that have made this show so beloved, and will be an exclamation point on the series' incredible run. And while the series will wrap in March somehow I don't believe we've heard the last of Shawn and Gus."
NBCU Cable Entertainment, President and Chief Content Officer, Jeff Wachtel, added:
"PSYCH is one of those rare projects that broke into the cultural mainstream. Its wild energy, fearless fun and engaging characters delivered an unrivaled series that will continue to be loved by fans for as long as there are ways to watch TV."
