Despite their age as a meme, mash-ups can still prove to be a solid re-invention of our shared musical landscape.
Sure, some of the more inane song-splices remain little more than trendy devices for 'roided-up, club-humping bros.
But then there are those musical cut-ups that are true artistry--on par with Brion Gysin, even.
Of the latest is Christopher Wallace's (a.k.a. The Notorious B.I.G.'s) "Suicidal Thoughts" superimposed over Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 27 in E minor, Op. 90: II.
This creative synergy comes from Dan Kreiger, who actually plays the Beethoven alongside Biggie's words.
So, next time you're about to rage your face off, brahs, crank this one instead. You'll be doing us all a great favor.
WARNING: This is still Biggie on the mic, so consider his part NSFW.
Unless you have my job, of course.
