There is a new trend growing in TV. Rebirth. That is right, hit series from yesteryear are getting limited run revivals, a second chance to tell their tales. First Kiefer Sutherland’s 24 was allowed to Live Another Day, and now the hit NBC series Heroes is being reborn.
Just because a TV show ends doesn’t mean that it has to die. Two popular shows from the past are getting a second chance at life.
The NBC series Heroes use to be a pretty big deal. Then the writers strike came and ruined everything. However, the show is coming back for a limited series run.
Jennifer Salke, President of NBC Entertainment, made the announcement about the show's return:
"The enormous impact Heroes had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening. Shows with that kind of resonance don't come around often and we thought it was time for another installment. We're thrilled that visionary creator Tim Kring was as excited about jumping back into this show as we were and we look forward to all the new textures and layers Tim plans to add to his original concept. Until we get closer to air in 2015, the show will be appropriately shrouded in secrecy, but we won't rule out the possibility of some of the show's original cast members popping back in."
Heroes is following the lead of Fox’s 24. The long running series is returning this May for a half day. The 12-episode run titled, 24: Live Another Day, will feature Jack Bayer in London.
The show’s star, Kiefer Sutherland recently spoke to E! Online about returning to the role of Jack Bayer:
"The foundation for any of this is going to be the writing, I have such huge respect for Howard [Gordon, executive producer].If he says I don't think I should do it anymore, then we end it. If he says we should, then I'm going to say ‘OK, let's go,' so I'm very excited.
