Lincoln Center: Antonio Ciacca Presents "Italian Jazz Days Allstar Big Band

The Lincoln Center's Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola will entertain the "Italian Jazz All Star Big Band," conducted by Antonio Ciacca. Ciacca will bring this big band experience for two nights spawning four shows on Oct. 8 and Oct. 9 with performances at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. respectively.

Antonio Ciacca has been working on these performances from since 2009 and will be joined on stage by a slew of performers.

Ciacca, from his piano will be directing the proceedings. He will have trumpeters Brian Pareschi, Brandon Lee, Andy Gravish and Mike Carubia at his side. On trombone will be James Burton, Nick Finzer and Joe McDonough.

The Saxophones are Andy Farber, Kurt Bacher, Alex Hoffman, Jerry Weldon and Frank Basile. While Paul Gill will be on bass, Carl Allen will play the drums and Justin Echols will be the vocalist.

The shows at the Lincoln Center will be cost patrons $20 to $25 while students with a valid student ID will be admitted for $5 to $10.

Antonio Ciacca is a well-traveled artist and composer. Ciacca was born in Germany 1969 and raised in Italy and studied in the United States.

Ciacca's introduction to jazz as a professional came as his role as a sideman for acts that include Art Farmer, James Moody, Lee Konitz, Jonny Griffin, Mark Murphy, Dave Liebman and Steve Grossman with the latter having the most profound effect.

The pianist studied at Wayne State University in Detroit with Kenny Barron then moved to New York to be schooled by Jackie Byard.

Ciacca has six solo albums where he is the centerpiece and is on various other artist's albums as a sideman. Currently Ciacca is a teacher at the Juilliard School where he teaches jazz.
