Charlize Theron and Sean Penn Dating Rumors: Fighting, Breakup with Mexico Vacation [UPDATE]

Aging actor Sean Penn is working hard to keep his hot South African girlfriend Charlize Theron from breaking up with him, despite reported updates that the couple has been seen fighting in public recently. According to rumors, this latest vacation to Mexico was with Sean to save things, and it worked.

Sean Penn has suffered from a well-earned bad reputation since his dating Madonna days of the late eighties, but he admittedly changed himself for his most recent muse.

Penn told CNN's Piers Morgan that he was going to do everything he could to hold on to Charlie for as long as he could (via Life & Style):

"[Charlize] is a keeper, that's for sure...Well, I'll do my best to keep her, anyway."

A friend of Penn's told Life & Style that Sean was just as infatuated with Theron's mind as her body:

"[Sean] is ridiculously smitten. He says Charlize is the smartest woman he has ever been with. Sure, she's gorgeous, but he's turned on by how intellectually stimulating she is."

Not is Charlize only intellectually stimulating but she's persuasive enough to get Sean to let artist Jeff Koons melt down all his guns for charity art auction (via Life & Style):

"I'm a self-proclaimed alpha male who owns 67 firearms. But I've had my mind changed about guns by a strong woman, a beautiful South African woman."

Sean is changing for Charlie, but can he change fast enough to keep her happy.

An eyewitness to a recent fight at trendy West Hollywood dining locale Chateau Marmont isn't so sure.

They told Star that before the evening was over Theron was alone and in tears:

"Sean was flirting with the hostess...Charlize was seething and told him to grow up and act appropriately. She got so upset that she started sobbing at the table."

But everything is reportedly back on track now that Sean whisked her away to a magic place were hostesses won't be able to hurt them ever again, Mexico.

Don't worry, one witness tell People, their dinners south of the border are full of laughter not tears:

"They were inseparable. They held hands everywhere they went.

"Before dinner one night, they held hands and took a stroll around the pool, looking at the beach. They looked completely enamored with each other."

Yeah...but they can't stay in hostessless Mexico forever...no one can.
