A winning ticket was sold in this week’s $400 million Powerball Jackpot lottery game. That means that this weekend’s totals have dropped to the default amount. Check the report below for a preview on this Saturday's game, as well as an update on the big winner. Speaking of winners, we were all winners this week when Marvel revealed the trailer of Guardians of the Galaxy.
The Powerball lottery jackpot has dropped to a depressing $40 million, with an even more pathetic estimated cash value of $22.8 mil.
The Powerball website is reporting on last night's win, writing:
“There was one winner sold by the California Lottery for the last drawing's $425,300,000 grand prize”.
The winner has yet to come forward, however, lottery spokesman Alex Traverso doesn’t seem to think it will take long, telling reporters:
"I give the person the first day to be shocked," Traverso said on Thursday, "and then the wheels start turning….I know if it were me, I wouldn't want to sit on the ticket until Monday."
However, the big winner this week was Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The first official trailer for the film came out this week.
The trailer plays up the fact that they are one of the studio's least known superhero teams. Marvel’s President of Production Kevin Feige spoke to Collider recently about the underdog group.
“It’s not a secret. Nobody knows it. It was not a successful live action TV show in the ‘70s. It didn’t have a successful cartoon line. It isn’t a part of video games. It is the least known, which is exactly why we’re doing it. Do you know what I’m feeling here? I’m feeling excitement for Batman vs. Superman. I’m excited for that. It’s awesome. But it’s another movie with combined comic book characters. I think they’ll be excited for what we’re doing with Thor. I think they’ll be excited for what we’re doing with Captain America, but there’s a sense that I feel here, which is, ‘we love this. They’re revealing the Winter Soldier! Oh my God, look what Loki’s doing!’ But there’s a sense of, ‘what’s new?’ Some people--not enough people--liked Pacific Rim so much. That was the newest thing in the world.”
