It is the end of an era. The long running USA series Psych has officially been canceled. The hit crime-comedy starring James Roday and Dule Hill is down to its very last five episodes. Check below for a sneak peak at the return episode.
Sadly, the cult favorite Psych has been canceled. Chris McCumber, the President of USA Network, announced the series end at a Q&A session, telling reporters:
"Psych has made an indelible imprint on the television landscape, with a unique brand of comedy,"The final season celebrates the iconic characters that have made this show so beloved, and will be an exclamation point on the series' incredible run. And while the series will wrap in March somehow I don't believe we've heard the last of Shawn and Gus."
President and Chief Content Officer, NBCU Cable Entertainment, Jeff Wachtel, also chimed in, adding:
"PSYCH is one of those rare projects that broke into the cultural mainstream. Its wild energy, fearless fun and engaging characters delivered an unrivaled series that will continue to be loved by fans for as long as there are ways to watch TV."
The first of the final episodes airs next Wednesday. In the all new episode, Shawn has to solve a cold case older than him. The official plot synopsis teaser for the episode, titled "1967: A Psych Odyssey," reads:
“A former backup singer hopes to solve a cold case from 1967.”
The episode's title is a play on the book and film, 2001: A Space Odyssey.
The finale episode, titled "The Breakup," will air on March, 26 on USA.
