Kenya Moore needs to explain to the Real Housewives of Atlanta and the charity Saving Our Daughters just where the money she raised in honor of NeNe Leakes on last night's episode has gone, because the charity sure doesn't have it. Cynthia Bailey's husband Peter Thomas might want to rethink his criticism of NeNe in light of Kenya's event being apparently faked and not for charity at all.
Not only did Kenya Moore trick NeNe Leakes into attending her sham charity event, Moore got the organization Saving Our Daughters to lend their name, although they haven't gotten any money.
The event which was held in NeNe's honor was a complete surprise to Leakes, because she never got a proper invite.
NeNe apologized for sounding so harsh at the event on her Bravo blog, but explained that Kenya was playing everyone:
"I don't have a lot I want to say, but I'll start by saying I apologize for my behavior at the charity event...Kenya used the charity's name for her own selfish reasons. I never received a call, a text or an email from Kenya.
"What I did learn the night before the charity event is that Kenya had used a PR firm to send e-vites to everyone, which is why I didn't see it."
Turns out Kenya fired the firm, probably because they wanted to know how the money was getting to the charity.
According to an official release from Saving Our Daughters, they still haven't received any of the thousands of dollars that Kenya collected for them (via Eurweb):
"Our charity was contacted by publicist April Love to get approval and give notice of this upcoming event...Days later, to our surprise Ms. Love did contact me and inform me that she had decided to terminate her company's involvement with this event.
"Kenya Moore stated that thousands of dollars were raised at this event. To protect the integrity of Saving Our Daughters, our records show that we did not receive any of the proceeds raised from Ms. Moore's masquerade ball."
While Saving Our Daughters would love to have acknowledge NeNe's many contributions, they don't sound interested in working with Moore in the future:
"Ms. Kenya Moore stated that she was giving this charitable event in honor of Mrs. Leakes...This would have been the perfect opportunity for us to honor her, as well. We were not aware of this and it appears that Mrs. Leakes wasn't aware either.
"We would not ever jeopardize our continuing support from our friends by being a part of what appears to have been tainted from the start."
Wow...stealing form charity it the lowest of the low, just like Kenya Moore.
