Good news, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki fans. The pair's long running TV show, Supernatural, has been officially renewed for a tenth season. That is not all. The series’ spin-off, Supernatural: Tribes is getting a backdoor pilot episode.
It is unnatural just how long Supernatural has lasted on the air. The hit CW series has held its cult following for nine long seasons now.
It seems as if there is no killing this show, or the Winchester brothers for that matter. Just like Sam and Dean, the show has clawed up from the depths of hell once again. Supernatural has officially been renewed for a tenth season.
CW president Mark Pedowitz recently announced the renewal along with that of four other hit series:
"This season we've had great success with our new hit series The Originals paired with Supernatural, giving us our best Tuesday nights in years. The Vampire Diaries is number two in its time period in the young adult demos, and with Arrow continuing to gain among young men, and Reign growing its time period, we now have strong nights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I'm very pleased to announce early pickups for all five series, and let our fans know they'll have more great drama to look forward to next season."
Meanwhile, the show is reportedly getting a long awaited spin-off series, Supernatural: Tribes. TVLine is reporting on the show’s possible lead, stating a character description:
“ENNIS ROTH | The de-facto star of the potential series, Ennis is ‘likeable, strong-willed, resolute, with a strong sense of justice.’ He’s the son of a cop who grew up in poverty. He’s en route to the police academy himself when someone he is close to is murdered--presumably by some kind of monster. He meets up with Sam and Dean and ‘learns the staggering truth’ that Chicago is run by five families of monsters (including, but perhaps not limited to, werewolves and shape shifters). And with that, a new monster-hunter is born. Fun fact: Producers are looking to fill this role with an African-American actor in his early 20s.”
