With less than a year before its official release date, the 50 Shades of Grey movie is already facing backlash. January Jones criticized Fifty for releasing a poster that was very similar to those of her show, Mad Men. This comes after EL James book was bashed by the alleged inspiration for Christian Grey, the title character from her popular series.
January Jones doesn't have a problem speaking her mind. This was especially true when she called out Fifty Shades of Grey's promotional poster, which looked very similar to one Mad Men used three years ago, as New York Daily News reports:
"The Mad Men star posted a photo on her Instagram account Tuesday that showed an ad for the upcoming film on the side of a building...'Does this look familiar to anyone else?' Jones captioned the image, along with a hashtag, '#madmenpostercirca2010.'"
The actress was referencing a promotional poster for Season 4 of the show. In case you missed the Fifty Shades of Grey poster, International Business Times described the simple (yet, enticing) ad:
"'One Year. Valentine's Day 2015 #FIFTYSHADES,' the teasing poster read, getting fans even more excited that their favorite movie adaptation would be making its debut in a short 365 days. In the promo, we see what looks like a shocked Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) leaving her office only to be surprised by a patiently waiting Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan)."
New York Daily News went on to support the 36-year-old January Jones in her assertions. According to the paper:
"Both ads feature handsome men in dark suits posed in a similar fashion, and both characters are known to be charming yet controlling, especially when it comes to the women in their lives. So some might say the actress has a point."
