David Beckham may have retired from playing soccer, but he isn't out of the game. The sports icon is starting his "own" MLS franchise in Miami. The retiree and wife Victoria will no doubt be moving, so David can focus on his new enterprise, despite having just laid down $65 million for a London mansion.
David Beckham announced this week that he has big plans to start a world renowned MLS franchise is Miami.
Beckham promised that this will be no idle distraction for him; he plans to focus all his attention on making the new Miami team something to talk about in the world of international soccer (via BBC):
"I have worked with some of the biggest clubs and greatest players and this is a dream...We're planning to bring a team that will be a global team. I want to create a team that we can start from scratch and I am going to work hard for this city to make this team very successful.
"This is an exciting time for myself, my family, my friends and partners, and it is something we are really looking forward to bringing to Miami...I want to make this my own team."
One wonders with David spending all his time and energy in Miami exactly what's going to happen with the new $65 million home in a swanky London neighborhood.
Almost seems a waste that they won't be spending their time in what UK realtor Giselle Harrison describes as the finest digs in all of London (via Life & Style):
"The Beckham's have chosen the most expensive and glamorous area of London. They have fantastic restaurants, shops and museums, and their neighbors are some of the richest people in the United Kingdom!..It's one of the most incredible streets in London. Victoria will have more than enough space to have an entire room dedicated to her shoes and handbags."
Maybe it can be their Christmas home.
