Valentine's Day might be fully over, but Almost, Maine remains a beautifully written, well-acted production--perfect for couples looking to extend their love on a midwinter night's dream.
Playwright John Cariani's Thornton Wilder-meets-Robert Frost tale has become a bona fide hit with repertory theaters around the country. With more than 2,000 shows elsewhere since its New York debut in 2006, this potato production, though, offers a little extra.
How so? The writer is acting this go 'round.
The entire ensemble is so good, too, that singling out anyone in particular (like, say, Donna Lynne Champlin) wouldn't do the rest of the cast justice.
Almost, Maine is playing at The Gym at Judson, 234 Thompson Street at Washington Square South, until Sunday, March 2.
Be you alone or with a loved one, you best get to it soon.
Love is local, indeed.
