Jose Mourinho Real Madrid Overcome Ajax

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho was "pleased," with his sides performance Wednesday when they defeated Ajax Amsterdam 4-1 at the Amsterdam Arena in group play in the UEFA Champions League.

A Cristiano Ronaldo hat trick lifted the Spanish outfit above their Group D rivals to make it two wins out of two in this competition.

The Madrid forward opened the scoring in the first half along with Karim Benzema, while Niklas Moisander also found himself on the score sheet for the Dutch side. Ronaldo completed his hat trick in the second half with a brace pass Ajax keeper Kenneth Vermeer.

"We played a very good match. Benzema, Kaka and Ronaldo all played well. Now we have six points in a very difficult group," said Mourinho.

The other two participants in the group, England's Manchester City and Germany's Borussia Dortmund, played to a 1-1 draw in Manchester, leaving Real Madrid squarely on top of the group.

Despite the Spanish side's victory coach Jose Mourinho still thought Ajax had a good chance to get something out of the game.

"Today was competitive. After the 2-1, they could have scored 2-2. Until our third goal, the match was open," Mourinho said.

Ajax's coach Frank de Boer thought his side was sloppy in the first half and gave the ball away cheaply.

"If you pass the ball from A to B...then you are never going to beat Real Madrid," de Boer said.

The Dutch club who sit bottom of Group D will face Manchester City at home on Oct.23 while Real Madrid visit Borussia Dortmund on the same day in the next game day of the Champions League.
