Fox’s upcoming Batman prequel series, Gotham is gaining a lot of ground. The up and coming show has found a few new faces to add to DC comics' most famous city. Last week the show announced that Southland’s Ben McKenzie has been cast as the lead, James Gordon. Now four new cast members have been announced, including actors from both The Walking Dead and Burn Notice. The characters that have recently been announced include Bruce Wayne’s butler-turned-guardian, Alfred Pennyworth, and the villainous Oswalt Cosopolpot, A.K.A. The Penguin.
The Gotham cast is coming along quite nicely. The first wave of actors have can been confirmed for the new show. Leading the cast is Ben McKenzie from Southland. McKenzie is playing a young James Gordon, before he became the police commissioner.
However, the show will not only focus on Jim Gordon, but will also include a very young Bruce Wayne and some of Batman’s most infamous villains. Fox’s chairman Kevin Reilly recently told reporters about the show:
"This is all of the classic Batman characters. It follows the arc of how they all became what they were. I've read the script its really good. It's going to be this operatic soap that has a slightly larger-than-life quality."
One of those villains has already been cast. The Walking Dead’s Robin Lord Taylor will play Oswald Cobblepot, A.K.A The Penguin.
SPOILER: On The Walking Dead,Taylor played the Sam who along with his girlfriend didn’t survive after meeting Rick and Carrel right before she left the group. END SPOILER
The offical annoucment described Cobblepot as:
“Oswald Cobblepot is a low-level psychopath (for gangster Fish Mooney) who hides his sadistic lust for power behind an exquisitely polite demeanor.”
Other cast members include Sean Pertwee, as ex-marine Alfred Pennyworth, Erin Richards as Gordon's love interest, Barbra and Burn Notice star Zabryna Guevara as his boss.
