Fan might finally be able to see a trailer for Marvel’s upcoming underdog movie The Guardians of the Galaxy very soon. Meanwhile, there has also been talk of a sequel--pretty strange considering that fans haven’t got a glimpse of the first film yet.
The Guardians of the Galaxy is without a doubt Marvel’s risky project to date. The rag-tag team of unlikely superheroes are no where as well known as Iron Man or the rest of the Avengers.
One would think, with so little known about the group, that the studio would have started pushing the film by now. However, instead, Marvel decided to spend their Super Bowl time slot promoting the guaranteed to be successful Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier.
Now signs that Marvel is finally ready to show fans footage from the new film are popping up. Alberta Film Ratings has received the films trailer for review. It reportedly has a PG rating and runs for two minutes and 23 seconds.
Last year Marvel’s president of production and chief tongue flapper, Kevin Feige spoke with Collider about the film:
“It’s not a secret. Nobody knows it. It was not a successful live action TV show in the ‘70s. It didn’t have a successful cartoon line. It isn’t a part of video games. It is the least known, which is exactly why we’re doing it. Do you know what I’m feeling here? I’m feeling excitement for Batman vs. Superman. I’m excited for that. It’s awesome. But it’s another movie with combined comic book characters. I think they’ll be excited for what we’re doing with Thor. I think they’ll be excited for what we’re doing with Captain America, but there’s a sense that I feel here, which is, ‘we love this. They’re revealing the Winter Soldier! Oh my God, look what Loki’s doing!’ But there’s a sense of, ‘what’s new?’ Some people--not enough people--liked Pacific Rim so much. That was the newest thing in the world.”
However, Marvel has a lot of faith in the new film. It has even been rumored that a sequel has been greenlight for a 2016 release date.
