The most epic battle the world has ever seen has just been announced. No, not George Zimmerman vs Kanye West. We are still waiting on that one. We are talking about The Lego Movie star and former Saturday Night Live funny man Will Ferrell squaring off against Red Hot Chili Pepper’s member Chad Smith in the match of the century. It is drums vs cowbell when the two doppelgangers face off. Smith’s band recently caused a controversy after they performed unplugged at the Super Bowl.
Will Ferrell and Chad Smith look an awful lot alike. Fans recently pointed out the similarities between the two during a Reddit AMA chat with Farrell recently. Will Ferrell responded by quipping to fans:
"A lot of people think that it's me playing for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. But that would be an insult to Chad Smith. The truth of the matter is there is no Will Ferrell. Only Chad Smith."
With the help of Ferrell's comedy website, Funny or Die, the two men have managed to extend their playful feud into a money making opportunity. The stars have agreed to an epic drum vs cowbell battle for charity, the College for Cancer. Smith recently responded to Ferrell's impersonations on Reddit:
"Mr. Ferrell is a delusional imposter. It seems to me that he has gone off his meds and he needs to seek professional help because I am obviously more talented and handsome than he is. You know, his cowbell work is well-documented, but his drumset skills are nominal based on Step Brothers the film. Other than wiping his testicles on the drums, which of course I give high marks to...Tell Will Ferrell anytime, anyplace, I'll take him down. I don't want to embarrass him, but I'd say don't bring your family. Especially children. I don't want them to see this."
