Fat James Roday’s 'Psych' Canceled After Season 8, Finale Episode Air Date In March

The hit USA show Psych has officially been canceled. The long running series, starring James Roday and The West Wing’s Dule Hill is calling it quits after eight seasons. The series finale will air this March.

USA has just upset a whole lot of fans, who have grown attached to hit series Psych, after eight long years. The show ran for an impressive 121 episodes, including a special in between seasons, two-hour musical.

Now, it is time for the show to go where all great shows go when they grow up...syndication heaven.

President of USA Network, Chris McCumber, made the announcement to reporters during a Q and A session, stating:

"Psych has made an indelible imprint on the television landscape, with a unique brand of comedy,"The final season celebrates the iconic characters that have made this show so beloved, and will be an exclamation point on the series' incredible run. And while the series will wrap in March somehow I don't believe we've heard the last of Shawn and Gus."

President and Chief Content Officer, NBCU Cable Entertainment, Jeff Wachtel, also chimed in, adding:

"PSYCH is one of those rare projects that broke into the cultural mainstream. Its wild energy, fearless fun and engaging characters delivered an unrivaled series that will continue to be loved by fans for as long as there are ways to watch TV."

The finale episode titled, "The Breakup" will air on March 26 on USA.
