Allegedly Cheating Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley Update: Deny Lawsuit Allegations, Mardi Gras Headliner?

Carrie Underwood is very busy this year, still riding the wave of attention garnered from her live television performance of The Sound of Music several weeks ago. Carrie has been named by New Orleans' official site as the headliner for Endymion Extravaganza for this year’s Mardi Gras. But is hasn’t all been good attention. Underwood and fellow CMA co-host Brad Paisley, who have been accused of cheating on their respective spouses with one another, have had to deny, through their lawyers, accusations brought about in a court lawsuit that their hit “Remind Me" was plagiarized.

Don't worry, Carrie Underwood isn't in too much hot water yet.

She and Brad Paisely have been accused of recording a plagiarized song on Paisley's last album.

The suit alleges that Paisley collaborator Charles Dubious stole the song from country singer Lizza Connor, when he was the mentor at a songwriter's workshop she attended in Nashville under the name of Amy Brown.

Paisley and Underwood's attorneys have denied that their clients had any knowledge of, or where involved in any wrong doing of any kind (via Radar Online):

"Defendants (Paisley and Underwood) deny any wrongful conduct, omissions, infringement or any other activities alleged by Plaintiff in this District or elsewhere or that they are liable to the Plaintiff for any claims."

Co-defendant is taking a different tact other than denial; he is countersuing, because in a way she consented to him stealing her song. Or as Radar Online more succinctly puts it:

"When Bowen attended the songwriting workshop, she had to sign a consent agreement, which had a provision about submission of one's songs - that basically gave up her rights to sue for trademark infringement."

The city of New Orleans aren't letting the detractors change their mind about Underwood.

The website Nola.com announced the Big Easy would be looking to kick things off this Fat Tuesday:

"Endymion, that massive superkrewe, is bringing out a super lineup of boldface names for its March 1 parade, with TV stars Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) and Ian Somerhalder (Vampire Diaries) sharing co-grand marshal duties at the parade and country star Carrie Underwood serving as the headliner for the ensuing Endymion Extravaganza at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome."

But you'll have to ask Paisley what Carrie's willing to do to get those pretty plastic beads.
