Well, it looks like the the Flappy Bird has gone extinct. The Mario look alike has gone down the drain. Despite achieving major success and massive downloads, the new hit app has been pulled from the Apple iTunes app store and Google Play Marketplace. Just why has the smash hit been pulled from the virtual shelves? Because the development couldn't take being successful, that is why.
Vietnamese game developer Nguyen and his one man studio DotGears has pulled the smash hit mobile game, Flappy Bird, from the virtual shelves. Nguyen claims that it has nothing to with the game pretty much stealing elements from the Mario game.
In a statement on Twitter over the weekend, Nguyen broke the news to fans, writing:
"I am sorry 'Flappy Bird' users, 22 hours from now, I will take 'Flappy Bird' down. I cannot take this anymore."
Looks like the Flappy Bird may have flown too close to the sun.
Now that the game is off the market, phones with the game downloaded are going for big bucks online. Apple iPhone 5’s are reportedly being sold on ebay for the asking price of $99,999, with the older model iPhone 4’s coming in at a whopping $134,295.
The smash hit game where a player navigates a small bird through difficult of maze of pipes, in what is appears to be the Mushroom Kingdom, has been on the market for sometime, before seemingly rising up to the top of the charts over night.
After the game was pulled from mobile marketplaces, several websites have popped up that claim the game can be played for free online.
