Simon Cowell, who is engaged to a very pregnant Lauren Silverman, decided to destroy X Factor USA rather that watch it fail on its own merits. The surly Brit has decided to leave the show, prompting it to be immediately canceled by Fox, to return to judging the UK version of his talent show. News has it that Silverman needn't worry about missing the birth, however, because Cowell has hired a private jet to be on stand-by 24/7.
Bad news for not only the fans but the cast and crew of X Factor America; the show is being pulled from the air and everyone is out of job.
Everyone but Simon Cowell, of course, who basically killed the show, when he announced that he would not be returning to his own flagship show, so he could go back to the job he originally quit to start the program in the first place.
Fox entertainment chief Kevin Reilly, had already mentioned that the show would be facing some definitive tweeks if it returned for another season (via 3 News):
"The show underperformed this year. Simon himself would admit that. The ratings were not what we hoped. If the show were to come back, it would not be in the current format we have."
But in light of Cowell decision to leave, before he could be told what to do with his show, Reilly has officially announced the show's demise (via 3 News):
"Unfortunately, there is no X Factor USA without Simon Cowell, but we understand and support his decision to focus on the international formats and on the next phase of his personal life. We wish him the very best, and it's our sincere hope that we work together again soon."
Simon bade a found farewell for now, but warned that one day soon he may return (via 3 News):
"I've had a fantastic time over the last 12 years, both on The X Factor and American Idol. And apart from being lucky enough to find some amazing talent on the shows, I have always had an incredible welcome from the American public (most of the time!)
"Last year, for a number of reasons, I had to make a decision to return to the UK version of The X Factor in 2014. So, for now, I'm back to the UK and I want to thank Fox for being an incredible partner and I also want to thank everybody who has supported my shows. America, I'll see you soon!"
Take your time...We don't want you to feel you have to rush back.
