Carnegie Hall is a staple of classical music for many decades and now in this the 2012-2013 season the grand old Manhattan will be offering a glut of fine acts.
The opening night for Carnegie Hall is right around the corner with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra set to perform Oct.3 and will perform three straight nights to delight fans at the New York institution.
Others however will fix their gaze on Oct. 24 when the Philadelphia Orchestra makes its only Carnegie appearance of the season.
The Pennsylvania based group will look to see how they perform as they welcome a new Music Director Yannick Nezet-Seguin to the helm.
Nezet- Seguin can be associated with numerous orchestras and classical music persons.
Along with taking over the lead role at the Philadelphia orchestra, the French Canadian is also contracted to the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, in the Netherlands as a principal conductor.
Nezet-Seguin is also closely linked with Carlo Maria Giulini and Charles Dutoit the man who introduced him to the Philadelphia Orchestra.
New York is where he made his debut in 2009 at the Metropolitan Opera House.
In this month patrons will see acts from the likes of Minsoo Sohn the South Korean pianist, the Clavier Trio, Arkady Fomin on violin, Jesus Castro-Balbi the cellist and David Korevaar on piano.
With well-known Chinese pianist Lang Lang in the mix as well, as he brings his friends along for a benefit concert on Oct. 30 to bring a high profile opening month to an end .
