‘Saturday Night Live’ New Episode Olympic Hiatus; Seth Meyers Replaces Jimmy Fallon Who Takes Over Jay Leno on ‘The Tonight Show’

Well, last night marked the end of an era...or error, if you ask some Conan O'brien fans. Legendary talk show host Jay Leno has stepped down from the Tonight Show. Late Night host Jimmy Fallon is stepping into Leno’s role, with Saturday Night Live’s Seth Meyers replacing Fallon. However, SNL and most of the network is on a temporary hiatus while they air the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Well, Jay Leno has finally left The Tonight Show. Allegedly he was practically dragged away kicking and screaming, but, still, the fact remains that he is gone. Now NBC’s late night lineup is entirely headed up by Saturday Night Live vets once again.

Rival talk show host Jimmy Kimmel tweeted a surprisingly sincere farewell to Leno, writing:

“Issues aside, 20 years at #1 is a remarkable achievement. Congratulations and best wishes to @jayleno on an incredible run.”

However, Conan O’brien is still a little bitter about being given a temp job as Tonight host a few years back, monologuing:

“The Olympics start airing tonight on NBC. It’s very cool. That’s right, NBC has the Olympics. It’s a big deal. NBC will finally get to show somebody who is OK with passing the torch...I allowed myself one, but it was a good one.”

Meanwhile, we will have to wait until the end of the month to find out how Meyers does behind the late night desk. The Winter Olympics will be busy ruining TV until February 23. SNL is one of the many shows that are going on hiatus for February.

What do you think about the new TV line up? Are you glad to see Leno go? Let us know your thoughts on the subject in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
