AMC’s success with the adaption of comic book series The Walking Dead has them taking another chance on the genre. The company is now planning on producing a new series based around DC Vertigo’s Preacher. Neighbors star Seth Rogen and his super pal, Evan Goldberg, have signed on to write and produce the show. Meanwhile, Breaking Bad writer Sam Catlin will serve as showrunner.
It seems like everyone is jumping on the DC train when it comes to TV these days. From the CW’s Arrow and their upcoming Flash spin-off, to NBC’s Hellblazer and Fox’s Gotham, DC is taking over the small screen.
That is a good thing considering their movie verse is having trouble getting off the ground.
Now the company has yet another TV project in the works. AMC is developing
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg released a joint statement about the new series:
"This is amazing! We've tried for seven years to work on Preacher and we're so psyched AMC is finally letting us. It is our favorite comic of all time, and we're going to do everything we can to do it right. Humperdoo!"
AMC is tapping into their Breaking Bad crew by hiring BB writer Sam Catlin to serve as showrunner.
Meanwhile, Vertigo is also getting some more attention in the new Sandman movie. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is reuniting with The Dark Knight Rises scriptwriter David S. Goyer. Levitt first announced news of the film on Twitter, writing:
“Ladies and gentlemen, I'm incredibly honored to be working with David Goyer, Warner Bros, and @neilhimself on SANDMAN. #Prelude”
Levitt will serve as star and producer of the new film.
