Seth MacFarlane Family Guy Creator: To host 85th Academy Awards

Seth MacFarlane the great force behind top animated series such as "Family Guy, American Dad and the Cleveland Show," has been chosen to host the 85th Academy Awards on February 24.

The premier television event would have been an awesome coup for MacFarlane's affiliates FOX and NBC Universal except the show is being broadcasted on rival television station the ABC Network.

The cartoonist is coming of a wave of success this year not only from his animated series like Family Guy but also his debut feature film "Ted." MacFarlane starred alongside, Family Guy co star and "That 70's Show," starlet Mila Kunis and Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg.

"Ted," grossed 420 million USD worldwide and MacFarlane is hinting at sequel. Until then the comedian will have these awards and other projects to keep him occupied.

When it comes to hosting live events the animator is no novice. MacFarlane did big time live gigs such as the 38th season debut of NBC's late night show, "Saturday Night Live." The actor was also charged to host Comedy Central's "Roasts of Charlie Sheen, David Hasslehoff and Donald Trump."

Haven established himself as one of the industry's elite funny men MacFarlane himself has been honored on numerous occasions picking up two Primetime Emmy Awards the first of which in 2000. He is also an Annie Award recipient, that coming in 2006, a Webbie Award winner in 2009 and a Teen Choice Award in 2010.

MacFarlane's hit shows Family Guy and American Dad new season premiers aired Sunday,September 30 on FOX.
