New information about actor Philip Seymour Hoffman’s death is popping up all time. It is widely reported that Hoffman died of a heroin overdose over the weekend. Now new arrests have been made that may be connected to the actor's death. Meanwhile, the cast and crew of one of Hoffman’s most recent movies, The Hunger Games, have reacted to the tragic loss. Jennifer Lawrence and others have released a joint statement about Hoffman’s passing.
Philip Seymour Hoffman has one of the most impressive resumes of any actor ever. However, Hoffman tragically passed before he could finish his latest movie, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.
A joint statement by the film’s star, Jennifer Lawrence, director Francis Lawrence and Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins has been released:
“Words cannot convey the devastating loss we are all feeling right now. Philip was a wonderful person and an exceptional talent, and our hearts are breaking. Our deepest condolences go out to his family,”
Just a few days before his death, Hoffman reportedly withdrew $1,200 from an ATM. Later that night, Hoffman was spotted talking to two men carrying messenger bags.
Four people have been arrested in connection with Hoffman’s death. However, despite reportedly finding 50 bags of heroin, the brands found in Hoffman’s apartment didn’t match the ones found.
Hoffman will forever be remembered as one of the greatest actors of all time. It was hard for anyone to picture him as a drug addict, despite the fact he publicly admitted to it on several different occasions.
In 2011 Hoffman told 60 Minutes about his personal demons:
“I'm a heroin addict… Anything I could get my hands on, I liked it all.
He also added that he was scared he would die from addiction:
“You get panicked....I was 22 and I got panicked for my life. It really was, it was just that. And I always think, 'God, I have so much empathy for these young actors that are 19 and all of a sudden are beautiful and famous and rich.' I'm like, 'Oh my God. I'd be dead.'"
