The historic Juilliard School will delight newcomers all year round with various fair from dance to drama to music from all genre. Classical music will make a welcomed return from its hiatus on the Juilliard calendar when she returns with a Russian genius.
Conductor Semyon Bychkov will hold house on October 24 at 8 pm at the Alice Tully Hall accompanied by Juilliard Orchestra for just this one night.
The newly appointed Gunther Wand Conducting Chair of the BBC Symphony will be making his Juilliard debut.
In this special night, Bychkov will be conducting Rachmaninoff's "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini." German composer and pianist Johannes Brahms will also feature in his performance, opting to play "Symphony No.4." The Russian conductor will end the night with Henri Dutilleux's "Metaboles,"
Mr. Bychkov is easily recognized as one of the world's leading conductors. A native of Saint Petersburg, Russia, Bychkov has won the respect of opera houses the world over. London, Vienna, Paris, Berlin, Milan, Chicago and New York are all stomping grounds for this master conductor.
Winner of the BBC Music Magazine's Record of the Year 2010 for his recording of Wagner's Lohengrin this multi talented artist has mastered the art of conducting. He is also associated with organizations like the Royal Academy of Music in London as well as WDR Sinfonieorchester Koln in Germany.
To go with his exploits Mr. Bychkov will also be displaying his talents when he heads up operations at the Metropolitan Opera House in the Giuseppe Verdi classic Otello come October.
