The New York City Ballet will celebrate the brilliance that is the Russian Peter Ilyitch Tschaikovsky with a two month showcase of his work. The famed New York Company will begin the merriment starting January 15 and will close of proceedings on February 24, 2013.
This month will see 11 different acts hitting the Lincoln Center in New York. Following his winter time extravaganza, "The Nutcracker," George Balachine will showcase the Russian's Piano Concerto No.2, the ballets "Serenade" and "Mozartiana," these beautiful works will be the first on viewing kicking from January 15 to the 26.
Clustered together will be "Black Swan," inspired Tschaikovsky's "Swan Lake," "Allegro Brillante" and "Tschaikovsky's Suite No. 3." The trio will be on view from January 17 to the 23.
January 24 to the 27 will see George Balanchine excellent marathon come to an end with the of display Divertimento from "Le Baiser de la Fee," Tschaikovsky "Pas de Deux," "Waltz of the Flowers" and the softly applied "Diamonds," to round of the first month of the year .
The Walt Disney children's favorite "The Sleeping Beauty," will have reign over the month of February from February 13 to the 24, bringing Peter Martins Tschaikovsky vision to the fore.
Not only should Lincoln Center goers get excited over this wondrous time, even the performers getting riled up by this Tschaikovsky adventure.
"I never feel more like a ballerina than when I'm dancing to Tchaikovsky. His music is feminine and graceful--it was meant to be danced," said Savannah Lowery a soloist with the New York City Ballet.
