If you saw the Super Bowl (and who didn’t), then you may have seen a big spoiler for the new Marvel movie, Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier. A new rumor is circulating that Samuel L. Jackson’s character, Nick Fury, might die in the new film.
Nick Fury is a man of many secrets, and his fate in the Marvel universe is one of the biggest ones.
In the new trailer for Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, we see Nick Fury severely injured in a car crash. The latest trailer goes on to show Fury on the operating table, while Cap, Black Widow and Agent Hill look over him.
Later in the clip, we see the actors in the same clothing standing over a body in sheet, implying that Fury died.
However, we also see a severely battered Nick Fury, telling Steve Rodgers that he is in charge. With corruption in S.H.I.E.L.D., it is entirely possible that Fury fakes his death in the film and later reveals himself to Captain America.
Jackson recently sat down with Fandango, where he opened up about his future with the Marvel franchise, stating that he has no idea what is in store for Nick Fury:
"Nope. None whatsoever. I just know that the Marvel Universe is there, that there are things going on, and that I have three pictures left on my nine-picture deal. That's all I know."
Jackson went on to add that there might be hope of extending his deal:
"I've done six of them. And I'm about to do seven, so I'm running out of Marvel pictures--unless they extend my contract."
Could Marvel be looking to end Jackson contract early? What if they decided to write his character off for a few years only to bring him back for his final two films somewhere down the road?
