Well, today is the big day. Creation museum founder Ken Ham and science educator and Dancing with the Stars competitor Bill Nye will debate the origins of the earth. The battle over evolution vs creationism will stream live via NBCNews.
The battle of the ages begins tonight. Christian apologist and Creation Museum founder Ken Ham is debating science educator and TV personality Bill Nye “The Science Guy.”
It all started when a video that Bill Nye made in 2012 went viral on YouTube last year. In the video, Nye called parents to not teach their children creationism:
"If you want to deny evolution and live in your world that's completely inconsistent with everything we observe in the universe, that's fine--but don't make your kids do it. We need them. We need scientifically literate voters and taxpayers for the future."
Ken Ham commented on the event recently telling Wave 3 News:
"I really trust that Bill Nye will come through with this. I believe he will. He's a well-known, highly respected personality. I think this is going to bring the creation-evolution issue to the public in a way that hasn't been done in a long time."
However, many critics have blasted Nye for engaging in the debate in the first place. Nye is not an expert in the field of evolution. Others feel that Nye’s debate will only help give the opposition get more attention.
The venue for the battle takes place at the Creation Museum in Petersburg, KY.
The debate will stream live tonight on NBCNews.com and MSNBC.com at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday.
What do you think about the debate? Who do you think will win? Can there even be a winner? Let your thoughts be known in poll below.
