Korean wonder kid Ji-yong will be appearing in Bangkok, Thailand October 20 to perform for Thai royalty. Ji-yong will be joined by other artist in an event dubbed "2012 Great Artist of the World Series."
The South Korean Native Ji-yong set a world record by becoming the youngest pianist to win the New York Philharmonic Orchestra Young Artists Competition, at the age of 10. The young musician will be performing works from Beethoven, Bach and Chopin at the event arranged by the Ministry of Culture and the Department of Cultural Promotions, in association with the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Foundation.
The now 21 year old prodigy hailed by the Chicago Tribune, "as a thorough musician with a sound and style that is astonishingly mature," this coming off of his splendid early performances. The Korean got his start from an early age with the help of his parents and started to play the family piano at a very young age.
Ji-Yong received his formal training at the Korean National University of Arts. Following that the young man moved to the United States with his family where he studied at Mannes College of Music. Now based in New York, the South Korean continues his classical training at the city's leading performing arts school Juilliard School of Music.
The young master has had performances the world over he has made stops in New York, Chicago, Prague's Smetana Hall and Russia's St. Petersburg's Philharmonic Hall with Thailand now his next port of call. Ji-yong who played with the great New York Philharmonic will surely delight crowds at the Thailand Cultural Center.
